Avast,
mateys! This be Bloody Barbary Barbie, Pirate Queen of the South Seas! Ye
say ye wish to sail the Seven Seas with a crew of tiny, yellow swabbies?
Look no further!
Pirate Wars is a tabletop miniatures game
utilizing ships and mini-figures from Lego's sadly-defunct Pirates product line.
The original rules were written by Stephen W. Gabriel in Issue #19 of the gaming
magazine Shadis. Steven maintains a website
devoted to these rules, and it's worth checking out for his own photos of Lego
carnage. Happily, Steven has allowed free distribution of his work, so you'll
find copies of the rules here in the hopes of ensuring that this fun game
remains available. Thanks to Stephen for granting permission to use this
material.

I was introduced to PW at the Egyptian
Campaign game convention in Carbondale, Illinois. James Seibert is a
Lego Maniac who traditionally runs several PW events each
year. My friend Doug Mikkelson and I fell in love with the game and, thanks to some clearance sales at the time, each wound up with our
own boatloads of tiny, yellow pirates. Each year, I make the trek back to
Carbondale with my personal flagship, the Bloody
Monkey. |
